Do you remember my post about the General Mills campaign launch? Check out this awesome video of the launching action, which explains our campaign:
As you can hear in the video, “General Mills destroys rainforests…. General Mills has a close relationship with many problematic palm oil suppliers, notably its closest neighbor: Cargill, Incorporated.”
Cargill is the largest importer of palm oil into the US from Southeast Asia, and like General Mills, it is headquartered in Minnesota, my home state. We need Cargill to be an industry leader by adopting a responsible palm oil policy to protect rainforests. By asking General Mills to break their contract with Cargill, we have increased pressure on the company to change. Here in cold, cold Minnesota, we can and have taken action to show our love for rainforests.
See all these people taking action? Have you asked General Mills to commit to socially and environmentally responsible palm oil for their products? Thank you! Cargill recently updated their palm oil commitments, which have improved since last year. I believe our campaign is starting to work.
Are you ready to make your request louder? Host a valentine-making party this month! Show your love for rainforests and ask Cargill CEO Gregory Page to “Have a Heart” this Valentine’s Day and protect rainforests, their inhabitants, and the climate. We want Cargill to adopt a responsible palm oil policy and stop sourcing palm oil from Sinar Mas, one of the most destructive palm oil suppliers.
