On Wednesday Dec 16th the 8th in a series of sit-ins targeting elected officials, coal and tar sands financiers and industries took place at the Calgary office of Prime Minister Stephen Harper! The Group called for his resignation due to his failure to represent the will of the Canadian people in Copenhagen! Prime Minister Harper has refused to fulfill Canada’s obligations to reduce climate pollution and support vulnerable communities. People’s Assembly for Climate Justice met with Police Violence

As the climate negotiations in Copenhagen are on the verge of collapse, yesterday hundreds of people staged a walk out of the Bella Center to join the thousands who were denied entry in the effort to transform the closed-door negotiations into a People’s Assembly. Check out Democracy Now’s coverage featuring our own Joshua Kahn Russell. As Josh mentions, they were met with police violence, arrest and pepper spray, and shut out of the climate summit.
